Fourteeners!

"Fourteener" is mountaineering speak for a mountain with a peak higher than 14,000 feet. There are 96 fourteeners in the United States, over half of which (53) are in Colorado. I wanted to climb at least one on our trip and Jean and Cassandra were willing to indulge me.
The key to hiking in Colorado is getting started early when the sky looks like this.

Jean found a hike near our campsite that if we felt so inclined would take us to possibly four fourteener peaks. Here's Jean getting her wardrobe situated near the trail head.

The trail head was few hundred yards on but I thought I'd put our Honda fit through enough semi-off roading already.

In the end Jean and Cassandra summited on fourteener and I did two.

We got back to the camp site in time to ride out the afternoon rain storm in our tents.

T-Brick Shed: Rubble Trench French Drain Installation

The last thing Jean told me before she left for the UK was that I had better finish the shed project before she gets back or else. The trench was a little soggy still but I decided to press on with the french drain installation for fear what that else may be (Although, I'm hoping the "else" will be make me a delicious sandwich). I dug out the high section blocking  the drain outlet and and cleaned up a some edges before putting down landscape fabric and a layer of gravel. Putting down the landscape fabric in the trench. Landscape fabric is water permeable but significantly less sediment permeable. This will help prevent the gravel and french drain from becoming blocked up with silt. Here's my work crew. T-Brick Shed: Preliminary Roof Design

Here's a design I came up with this weekend for a monoslope roof. Granted, it's not terribly original nor natural it should do the job and be relatively easy to construct. Sheathed with plywood and metal panels. Here's the framing detail for the roof. We'll infill the side jack walls with cob and wine bottles(something like the picture below)
