Sante Fe: A Taste of Winter

The winter in Austin wasn't much to speak of and it's been a pretty balmy Spring so with the Arkansas trip behind us I was considering putting my fleeces and cold weather gear into storage for next winter. It's a good thing Jean checks weather forecasts.

On Sunday, Julie and Josh took us on a hike up Atalaya mountain outside of Sante Fe. The peak is about 9000 feet above sea level. The trail is 6 miles round trip with over 1500 feet of elevation gain. And it was snowing.
Standing in the snow at the trail head. Jean looks thrilled. Maybe it's the altitude.

Welcome to Narnia!

A quick lunch/snack at the summit

There's nothing like expanding your political and economic influence across 17th century Europe after a hard day of hiking.
