The waterfall search continues...

Waterfall #3 – Tad Feak
After much searching through the woods on dirt roads, we found it! A beautiful, wide and low waterfall cascading into a fast flowing river that looked about chest deep. We started this morning in Sekong with a quick trip to the market to exchange some faulty headphones we brought last night – let's see how long the next pair lasts! Then we headed out on the road south towards Attaupea. After a short while we came to a large, clear sign for Tad Feak and Tad Hau Khon, indicating to a dirt track leading into the woods. As Aaron noted before, in Laos we have encountered a few occasions where sites are clearly labeled on the main road, then there are no more instructions when the road splits further down the path. After some exploration and gesturing to locals we found a substantial, deserted, wooden, viewing platform looking out over Tad Feak. Some litter was strewn around the banks below the waterfall indicating that others had found the place before, but our impression was that it was mostly from locals gathering and bathing in the river. Aaron dipped into the water at the edge of the river, but the current was too strong to swim.
Waterfall #4 – Tad Hau Khon
This mystifying waterfall evaded us. During several hours of searching we passed the same villagers numerous times, they must have thought we were crazy! Eventually we gave up, got back on the main road and drove south for about 80km. Dramatic mountains rose up to our right. The scenery was breathtaking. When we reached Attaupea we toured the town, before settling down to dinner and beer by the river. On the way here we passed a dusty, dirt track off to our right. This is the path we'll be taking tomorrow. I wondered anxiously if this would be as challenging as the dirt road we took on the last loop.
